“Stars In Our Eyes 07” the second annual recognition event produced for Lloyds TSB by Conference Connections. 1000 members of staff and their partners went on an amazing weekend journey of excitement, thrills and emotion culminating in an extravaganza that was the first event at the spectacular O2 Arena.
Saturday evening – Guests alighted from a fleet of vintage Routemaster buses at the Tobacco Dock where the weekend kicked off with an amazing party based on “Pirates of the Caribbean”. On entering ‘Pirate Town’, guests, themselves in costume, were greeted by a motley crew and buxom wenches before picking their way through sword fights and press gangs to explore shanty town and a sixty foot pirate galleon, the town square, secret treasure cave and underwater world.
Sunday morning - The Odeon Leicester Square for an Olympic themed business session, hosted by TV’s John Inverdale that included a “Journey of Sport” panel game with team captains Lord Sebastian Coe and Daley Thompson who were joined by fellow Olympians Ade Adepitan, Jonathan Edwards, Steve Backley & Sharron Davies.
Sunday evening – The ‘Stars’ then changed into their finery before boarding a flotilla of Thames river-boats for a Champagne cruise to their surprise location ‘The O2 Arena’. Guests entered the impressive 25,000 seater arena, where the entire floor had been transformed into an intimate setting for dinner. Chef Gordon Ramsay appeared live on stage discussing the menu he had devised.
Junior Simpson then compered a “Battle of the Bands” where a boy & girl band, specially formed from Lloyds TSB's senior executives took part in an X-Factor style competition for a coveted trophy. Guests were then treated to not one but two top bands Sugababes and McFly. After these fantastic performances, the evening was rounded off by The Bootleg Beatles.
The objective of the weekend was to make guests feel like Stars with a unique weekend that would show just how valued they are, this was certainly achieved: one guest enthused that it was “Absolutely awesome from start to finish, one surprise after another, it was a truly incredible experience – I did actually feel like a star going down the red carpet, it gave me goosebumps...”
